I have recently become the master of the kitchen, trying my hand at some new things. I once again tried to make homemade roasted red pepper hummus. The first time I made it was wonderful---wait awful! So we just assumed that we would have to buy over priced hummus forever! So I figured one day that I would try it again searching recipes online and I have found one and Sarahfied it to perfect it to our taste buds.
1 can of chickpeas
1 clove of garlic
1/3 cup of tahini paste
Blend away watch the magic unfold
Add 1-2 whole roasted red peppers
(there are some without sugar added to making them “clean.”)
Also add 2 tbsps of EVOO
You may have to add more oil to your recipe depending on your taste buds. I found that 2 was fine for me but my handsome husband likes it a little more smooth and so he adds more to his as he eats it. I think it just reminds him of being in Israel!
Ok so now that I have hummus I realized that I needed something to dip into it aside from veggies of course. My stomach was screaming PITA, PITA, PITA! I typically like whole grain but I’m still figuring out how to bake with whole wheat flour… ok the truth all flour… so I tried out white flour first! Whole wheat is next on my list…
The first batch I made was good but it taught me with round 2 to remove it from the oven a few minutes earlier for perfection… and we as Amsler’s strive for perfection! (as Justin always says).
